When Little Feet starts a New School Year.

When Little Feet starts a New School Year.

My Castor seed baby started her first day of school. I’m overwhelmed with emotions after walking her to class today. As I said my goodbyes, she smiled so brightly and happily and said goodbye back to me. My heart melted. With every new school year comes a blend of excitement on one hand, anxiety on the other. New teachers, new routines, new expectations. And for our children (not just toddlers, but kids of all ages.) that transition can feel big.

As parents, our role is to equip them physically, emotionally and spiritually, so they step into the new season confident, covered and cared for.

Here are a few things that have really helped us as a family, and as a mother of 3.

  • Boost their Immunity Early

Schools are wonderful places for learning and also for germs. Children share floors, toys, books, everything. One simple thing we do is adding propolis to their water to boost their immunity. Strengthening their bodies helps reduce how often they fall sick and gives us the peace of mind. A strong immune system goes a long way in helping to protect their bodies, stay energized and maintain balance in their daily life.

  • Pray over them.

Before they walk out the door, we pray over them. We intentionally invite the Holy Spirit to lead them, protect them and remind them that they are never alone. One verse my dear daughter Royal has been reciting is Psalms 55:17. “The Lord hears my voice.” It is such a powerful reminder for children: when you feel anxious, scared or inadequate, talk to God. He hears you. Teaching our children to run to God not away from Him, is one of the greatest gifts we can give them.

  • Pack Healthy Snacks-Fruits are a Must.

We try to keep snack boxes as healthy as possible, and fruits are non-negotiable. They are rich in vitamin C, support immunity and help keep energy levels steady throughout the day. It doesn’t have to be complicated but simple, fresh fruits go a long way in supporting growing bodies.

  • Choose the Right Water bottles.

This one surprised me as i was learning how to be a better parent, Straw bottles tend to hide bugs and bacteria, and they are harder to clean thoroughly. We have found that bottles with wide openings are much better, they are easier to wash and keep hygienic. Sometimes its the small changes that make the biggest difference.

  • Speak Life and Encouragement over them.

New classes and environments bring a lot of pressure. Many children may worry: Will I cope? Will I make any friends? So I make it a point to speak words of assurance: You have got this. You are capable. You are not alone. We believe in you. Our words help anchor their confidence, help believe in themselves especially during seasons of change. I can’t wait to hear all about her first day at school and how it went.
